Salvete Magistrī et Discipulī!
Welcome back to another school year with the New Jersey Junior Classical League! I hope that your summer has been relaxing, enjoyable, and fun. This year, the 60th National Junior Classical League was held at the University of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada at the end of July. New Jersey sent 12 delegates, and all reports are that the delegates had a wonderful time, winning multiple artistic, academic, and Olympika awards. The 61st NJCL Convention will be held at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia from July 28th until August 2nd. The theme for this year is “Omnium rerum prinicipia parva sunt,” which translates to “The beginnings of all things are small.” I invite all members of the NJJCL to attend this summer.
This year brings all of our favorite NJJCL events: regional meetings, Certamen at Princeton, and State Convention in the spring. This year, I hope to see as many schools as possible at as many events as possible. However, before a school can participate in any of these events or in any national events, it must be a member in good standing. Enclosed with this letter are membership forms for both the New Jersey Junior Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. Both forms must be submitted in full for an individual school chapter to be considered a member in good standing. Please fill out the forms and return them as soon as possible. Also, please check the NJJCL website (http://njjcl.webs.com/) frequently as to stay updated about NJJCL events and news. We also have a Facebook page for students and teachers to join (https://www.facebook.com/groups/njjcl) and I encourage all members of the NJJCL to join.
This summer has not been all about fun for the NJJCL Executive Board members: they have had summer jobs to ensure this will be a successful year for the NJJCL. If you have any comments, concerns, queries, or suggestions, feel free to contact me, Hannah McMullan, by email (email@example.com). All members of the New Jersey Junior Classical League Executive Board wish you a fun and successful year in the NJJCL.
